Value on Skills - Press Release
01 Sep 2009
According to a recent survey as many as 90% of parents think practical and
vocational courses should be taught in school. The survey by Skillfast UK
also showed that 78% of parents thought that schools do not equip young
people adequately for the world of work.
At Aspex we are proud that our educational software is much valued in
schools for helping children to improve their IT skills, and our children’s
educational software Spex, and easy 3D software tabs provide youngsters with
practical experience of computer-aided design and manufacture in the
classroom.
Educational software programs like these show children how useful a computer
is when it comes to designing and making a product. For example,
the easy 3D
software Tabs enables children to design and manufacture models from
NETS of 3D
shapes. With tabs, children manipulate 3D shapes like a cube, a cone, a
cylinder or a prism shape for example to make a chocolate box or a
design for a rocket! These children will have experienced hands on ‘design
and make’, a simplified taste of what happens in the 21st C world of
industry and commerce and in addition they have begun to improve the skills
they will one day need to survive in that world.
