Editing shapes and images

Any object in aspexDraw can be edited or changed in some way. Whether it be a line, a circle, an image, some clipart or a group of objects, there is plenty that can be done to alter its appearance.

Objects on the screen can be scaled, rotated, flipped and mirrored, re-coloured, other styles can be changed, or the image can be bent!

The following examples are a taster for what aspexDraw will do.

and try it out for yourself,

the program will work on PC Windows.

Mirror, Flip and Rotate.

1. letter 'L' made with the line tool

2. Mirror image

3. Flipped image

4. Rotated image

Editing lines

5. Image displayed in edit mode

showing 'point' nodes

6. New points added by clicking

on the line

7. Points dragged by mouse 8. The transformed shape

Curved Lines

1. A curved line in edit mode 2. Square with points added

on bottom line

3. Line converted to curve 4. Curve manipulated

to form an archway

Isometric View

1. Make a rectangle 2. Convert it to isometric

3. Change the colour

12. Add some clipart

Bending Images

The 'Bend' button enables one to bend an image into a different shape. Select the image to bend, then drag each corner in turn to fit the new shape. In this example a photo has been bent to fit onto a computer screen in an isometric view

Making Holes

Make a rectangle with circles on it.  Copy it

and convert the copy to left isometric view

Ditto but this time convert the copy to

 right isometric view

Ditto and convert the copy to floor view. Or simply draw the shapes from scratch with the aid of the isometric grid

Use the merge tool to merge all the shapes together,

producing holes in place of the circles

Move all the parts together ...  ... to make a dice with holes

Other Editing

Objects can be:

Click here to see a summary of all the other editing features available in aspexDraw.

Selected 1. The screen is comprised of thousands of pixels. An object will become selected when any pixel on that object is clicked. For example, if the screen was covered with a confusing array of lines it is easy to select the desired line by accurately clicking the mouse on any part of the desired line.

2. Drag the mouse over a picture, and any objects that it touches will become selected.

3. Set the option 'inclusive selection' to select only those objects enclosed by the mouse bounding box.

When an object is selected, a bounding box will appear with grab handles attached to it for scaling and rotating the object.

Moved Press the mouse over an object and move the object to another part of the screen. aspexDraw makes an educated guess as to whether you are trying to move the object or select it!

In other words one can move an object without it being cluttered with a bounding box.

Rotated Any selected object can be rotated by a set amount using a menu, by a specified amount using keyboard input, or freely using the mouse.
Scaled Apply scaling using the the mouse to drag grab handles on the selected object, or type an amount to scale it in both X and/or Y planes.
Flipped A menu option enables you to 'flip' an object, or create a mirror image in the vertical plane.
Mirror Make a mirror image of the object.
Grouped Group several objects together to form a single object.
Brought to front Bring a selected object to the front of the picture.
Put to back Send a selected object to the back f the picture.
Graded When two objects with the same number of points are grouped together, draw will generate or morph a series of shapes between them which gradually change from the size, shape and colour one to the size, shape, and colour of the other.
Locked Lock a shape into position, particularly useful for backgrounds and worksheets.
Cloned Setting an object with the clone effect enables one to drag unlimited clones from that object.  For example, when make a classroom, place a chair on the screen and set it to clone; then while designing the classroom one can drag more chairs into the room at any time.
