 Simple 2D Vector Drawing

aspexDraw in ICT

aspexDraw is an Object-Based, or Vector Program, which means that each shape you draw on the screen is a discreet, separate object.

Drawings are made using objects; lines, curves, rectangles, ellipses, clipart, images and text.

A popular choice of software for the  Graphical Modelling strand of ICT (QCA Unit 5a), and Unit 4b.

about aspexDraw
aspexDraw is an object based, vector drawing program, which means that each shape you draw on the screen is a discreet, separate object.

You can manipulate and alter each object in a number of ways; resize, copy, move, rotate, anticlockwise or clockwise, undo, redo, group, layer and more.

Objects can be colour filled, have thicker or thinner lines, or no lines at all.  There are tools to fill shapes and lines with graded colours, lines can be dashed and dotted and there are plenty of editing tools.

Edit pictures with cut, copy, paste, undo, redo, rotate, resize, move, import.  See AspexDraw features for the full list.

Banners and Posters

It is easy to make banners and posters in AspexDraw. An example of a banner to display an Egyptian Hieroglyphic is shown.

Unique collection of Clipart
Contains unique and very useful library of clipart. The vector clipart comprises 2D Plan View and 3D Views of different objects, chairs, tables, bathroom furniture, playground and classroom items.

The clipart is unique to Aspex Software and derived from the popular Spex+ design program.

CAD-style drawings.
See the illustration of the CAD style drawing of an en-suite bathroom. The walls, door and the shower base are drawn by hand and complemented by plan-view Spex+ClipArt of a toilet and basin. The ‘3D’ ClipArt could be used to draw an isometric view of the design. An isometric converter aids hand drawings.

What about younger children?
For younger children choose Primary Toolbar which gives you fewer extra-chunky buttons. The teacher can also select which individual tools will come up on the screen. AspexDraw also has a short manual as well as an on screen guide but these are not often needed.

How easy is it to learn?
Very simple indeed. AspexDraw has a short manual as well as an on-screen help manual, but they are not often needed.
